First Tuesday: "ITS PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS TIME IN TN"!! Tuesday, Dec 1.

From Tim Skow:

1ST TUESDAY members and friends:

"ITS PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS TIME IN TN"!!

1ST TUESDAY is bringing you more LEADERS of the campaigns you most want to hear before the March 1st "SEC Primary".... that includes us in Tennessee.

Flying in to Nashville to represent the TRUMP Campaign is their renowned NATIONAL CO-CHAIR and Sr. POLICY ADVISER SAM CLOVIS !!

Mr. Clovis is literally the “ICON of IOWA” when it comes to Republican presidential politics! He is truly a power player of our time! Mr. Clovis certainly makes the TRUMP campaign a force earning delegates in the notoriously difficult Iowa Caucus process!

Representing the CRUZ Campaign, from the Cruz Campaign State Leadership Team is noted talk show host & former candidate for Congress, Tennessee’s own Steve Gill.

Buoyed by a formidable ground game [including most leaders of “YES on 1” initiative ] and a well-funded PAC already running radio spots in rural TN, the CRUZ campaign is banking on Tennessee

As usual, we will meet at WALLER Law - 511 Union St. 27th floor. Doors open at 11AM for Coffee and Social time. Lunch, at 11:30, is $20 for 2015 Members and $25 for Guests. Program starts at NOON sharp. Secure seating for yourself at Guests at www.1sttuesdaynashville.com and click "Join Us"..... Remember..... parking is just $5 under the building !!

See you on TUESDAY, December 1ST !

Tim Skow

Citizen's riled in White County over Islamic indoctrination.

SPARTA, Tenn. -- About 350 concerned citizens gathered at a church in White County upset about a textbook. They want the school board to get rid of a 7th grade history book that they believe promotes Islamic indoctrination.
"It is our time, it is our place to stop it here," said Steve Gill, a speaker at the event. (link)

I don't know what the truth is about reported Islamic indoctrination in White County but people are certainly riled up.  I have not read the textbook in question, but I doubt many of those at the church in Sparta have either.  Tennessee Eagle Forum has devoted the last couple days of its newsletter to the issue. To view the newsletter and learn Eagle Forum's take on the controversy, follow this link

I support public and parental involvement in public education and think education is too important to be left up to educators. We know the majority of educators are liberal as evidenced by the role of the National Education Association in Democrat Party politics. Even liberals however, I do not think, have an agenda to indoctrinate kids in Islamic theology.

I do think however the agenda of promoting people being non-judgmental and politically correct may distort what and how educators teach. They may be so devoted to a why-can't-we-all-just-get-along attitude, a belief that all views are equally valid, possess an Obama-like attitude of apology for America's role in the world, and believe that if we would just be more respectful and understanding of other people that they would not do bad things, that promoting that belief system amounts to bending over backwards to present Islam in a favorable light and ignoring Islamic fanaticism. I doubt educators are indoctrinating kids in Islamic theology, but I don't doubt that they are indoctrinating them in a liberal world view and that may be almost as bad.

On the other hand, there are ignorant people who don't want their children to be exposed to other cultures and faiths and other points of view. There are people who think all of Islam is represented by Al Qaeda and ISIS's and they don't want anyone pointing out that most of the world's Muslims are not terrorist. There are people who think their view of Islam is more accurate than that of Islamic scholars.

In World War II there were many who thought rounding up and imprisoning Americans of Japanese descent was a good idea.  That way of thinking has not disappeared.  If  today it was proposed that all Muslim be put in concentration camps, I fear there would be many Americans who would support that proposal. There are people who support Freedom of Religion as long as it is their religion but think Muslims should not be allowed to build mosques in America.  Is is easy to fill a room by preaching xenophobia and Islamophobia and bigotry. I don't know what the truth is.  I suspect it is somewhere between an excess of naive liberal political correctness and bigotry.

Hundreds rally to 'Just Say NO' to a State Obamacare exchange

    Steve Gill
Dec. 5, 2012- About 300 to 400 people gathered downtown for a noon rally on the north end of Memorial plaza today to rally to urge Governor Haslam to reject sitting up an Obamacare insurance state exchange. Argument against sitting up the exchange was that it would be costly to the state , that the federal government has not issue clear guidelines as to how much flexibility the State would have in administering the exchanges, and that we should continue resistance to Obamacare.

Bobbie Patray of Tennessee Eagle Forum asked the crowd, "Have you ever been to the Pottery Barn and seen one of those signs that say, 'If you break it, you own it?'"  "Well," she said, "Obama owns it."

In addition to Bobbie Patray, speakers at the rally included radio host Steve Gill, tea party leader Ken Marrero, and anti-tax advocate Ben Cunningham.

    Bobbie Patray
Three hundred people is a pretty good crowd to gather on short notice on a work day in down town Nashville. Where did they all park?  I tried parking at the downtown library but there was no available space. I ended up taking my changes and parked in a parking space designated for loading and unloaded on Deaderick St. and got a $54 fine. Ouch!

I got there late and left early so did not observe the whole rally.

Steve Gill says Sharia Law is already here. Look at his example.

Steve Gill had this headline on his post today in big bold letters: "ISLAMIC SHARIA LAW WON’T COME HERE?!?!? IT ALREADY IS!!"

The text of the post read: "Last week we had Delta Airlines entering a partnership with the anti-semitic Saudi airline. Now we have a commercial development in Washington, DC deciding not to lease space to banks or restaurants that sell alcohol because their funding comes from a Muslim bank. Stock up on bacon and pork sausage now before your grocery store gets a loan from a Saudi bank!!!"

Steve, you are smarter than that. Why are you trying to scare people? Delta Airlines was not forced to enter into a partnership with Saudi Airlines. The developer in Washington was not forced to borrow money from a Muslim bank.  Do you not know the difference between "law" and voluntary agreements such as deed restrictions, partnership agreements, restrictive covenants and lease agreements?

Steve, are you an idiot or just spreading lies? Is that the best you could come up with?

    God Bless Phil Valentine

    Excerpts:

When you start lumping all Muslims into as terrorist then you are playing into the terrorist hands. That is what they want. They want all Muslims to be considered like them. They want you to consider all Muslims to be considered terrorist, because if you do, that makes their job all the easier.

If you want to build a Lee Harvey Oswald souvenir shop at Dealey Plaza you have a right to. This is America!

We need to be standing up for rights and freedoms in this country, and sometimes that is the right and freedom for people to do things you don't agree with. That is part and parcel of the whole "liberty Gig" folks!

What it the terrorist want to do? They want to beat us with our own freedom. They want to defeat us by using our own freedoms against us, and you are going to allow them to do it.

I have been so disgusted by conservative leaders such as Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich and Tennessee's Ron Ramsey and 6th District Congressional contender Lou Ann Zelenik and various conservative political commentators and talk show host just as Mark Levin and our own Steve Gill. I have been disgusted by those who would throw the Constitution under the bus in order to pander to bigots.

On the other hand, people like Chris Christie and Ron Paul have defended freedom and risen in my estimation. I am so very proud of our own Phil Valentine. He is a voice of reason and respect for the constitution in a world gone mad.

    God Bless Phil Valentine!

    Steve Gill Interviews Jeff Hartline

In this interview Steve Gill is pretty hard on Jeff Hartline. He describs Jeff taking a salary from his campaign as "slimy." Jeff tries to explain that the payment is for a period of time greater than just the reporting period and so is considerable less than $8000 a month. Unfortunately for Jeff, I don't think he makes his point very well. And, Steve Gill pretends he doesn't understand.

The Arizona Law has been fixed.

"Fixed," as in when you have your dog fixed. It has been neutered and that is a good thing.

I have been a critic of the Arizona law lining up with other conservative critics like Jeb Bush, Karl Rove, Fred Barns, Charles Krauthhammer and Mario Rubio. I know our own local Rush imitator and the big showmen of talk radio thought the Arizona law was just dandy as it was and they denounce all critics of the law as not real conservatives. Critics of the law are "RINO's," "inside-the-beltway types," and "the chattering class."

I don't take my marching orders from Steve Gill and Sean Hannity. I am disappointed so many conservatives seem to. When they are right, I am with them but I don't like those who would shred the constitution be they conservative or liberal. And to Steve and Sean, please stop yelling at me to read the bill. I have read it and it is not that difficult to understand. I would suggest you read it. It is only ten pages long. I will send you a link to it if you like.

Anyway, I am not now as critical of the law as I was on April 23rd when it was passed. On April 30, Governor Jan Brewer signed an amendment to the law that makes it "crystal clear and undeniable that racial profiling is illegal and will not be tolerated in Arizona." Also, the law changes the standard for demanding someones papers from "reasonable suspicion" following a "lawful contact" to a standard like that in the other states of the union. As amended, police can stop suspected illegal immigrants only while enforcing some other law or ordinance.

It still may be an ugly law, but now it is not much more than meaningless empty symbolism. It is probably no longer unconstitutional.

The Arizona law is now like an offensive dog that is less offensive once it has been fixed. The worse part of the Arizona law has been fixed.

And, Steve and Sean and their followers, if the law was so wonderful as it was, why do you think they had to fix it?
