Dear Rod,
This election isn’t about policy—it’s about the future of our democracy. I have disagreed with Vice President Harris over policy, but this election is not about those differences. At the end of the day, this is about the survival of the United States as a democracy.
When Vice President Harris spoke at the Democratic Convention, it was clear: Her speech was one that Ronald Reagan or George Bush could have given. It was an embrace of America, a recognition of the exceptional nature of this great nation.
What we hear from Donald Trump on a daily basis is that America is a failing nation, that America is a laughing stock. The trash-talking of the United States of America very much is part of the message that Donald Trump is pushing.
That’s not patriotism, and it’s certainly not leadership.
Donald Trump’s policies—from tariffs that will destroy the economy to isolationism that threatens our alliances—are fundamentally anti-conservative. But even more than that, they are anti-American. He threatens the Constitution and the very fabric of our nation.
