This past week has been a great week. The U.S. Supreme Court restored First Amendment rights, Air America went out of business, Scott Brown won the Massachusetts Senate election derailing the Obama revolution, and in Nashville, we Republicans had a great "Bacon and Eggs" summit.
Oh, and I almost forgot the Edwards humiliation.

President Obama will deliver his State of the Union address on January 27 at 9pm Eastern before a joint session of Congress. I think it’s obvious who should deliver the response for Republicans: Scott Brown.
Former Senator Rick Santorum posted on Twitter that Scott Brown should give the GOP’s televised response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
The Party has announced Virginia Governor Bob McDonnel will deliver the Republican Response to the State of the Union. This is a mistake! I have never heard McDonnel give a speech. I have heard Scott Brown. Brown has stopped the Obama juggernaut. Don't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Brown is the superhero of the moment. He has created a new buzz and excitement. The smartest thing the party could do is have Scott Brown deliver the Republican response. People might actually stay tuned and watch it. The Party should announce a change in plans, McDonnel should graciously accept the change and Brown should give the speech! Please vote in the poll posted to the left.

Please help persuade the Republican leadership to have Scott Brown deliver the Republican response to the President’s State of the Union address. Most of the time, the opposition party’s response gets little attention and generates less enthusiasm. Scott Brown’s election was a heavy blow to the Obama revolution. Scott Brown delivering the State of the Union address could be a good follow up punch. I don’t know of anyone who could create more enthusiasm for the Party than Brown.
I don’t always trust the Republican leadership to do the smart or right thing. Some of it is ideology, but I suspect most of it is simply ineptitude. In the case of Scott Brown, I would not be surprised if some Republicans with fragile egos and ambition do not feel threatened by the new guy. If the Republicans are smart they will let Scott Brown deliver the Republican response. If he gives the speech, the announcement that he is going to give it will be news, the speech will be watched, the speech will be news, and the follow up commentary and analysis will be news. If the Republicans are smart Scott Brown will give the speech.
Sometimes work and life and a new computer that won’t work interfere with my blogging. I don’t have time to do what I want to do today. Please someone, start an i-petition and a Facebook “cause” to persuade the party to have Scott Brown give the Republican response to the State of the Union. Talk it up on political chat groups and e-blast your list and email and call the local conservative radio talk shows! Scott Brown needs to give the response.
President Obama is scheduled to give the State of the Union address on January 27th. When the President gives his state of the union address the opposition party is always given a chance to respond. Usually, no matter who gives it, the opposition party's response gets little attention and does not generate much excitement. Last year Bobby Jindal of Louisiana gave the Republican response. He was supposed to be a raising star in the party. I thought he bombed. I was not impressed. I have watched Scott Brown give campaign speeches and I watched his victory speech last night. He is a great speaker. He has charisma. He is attractive. He can give a great speech. And, he just won a tremendous victory against all odds. He has derailed the Obama revolution. Scott Brown should give the Republican response!
We, the American People, call on Senator-Elect Scott Brown to be seated immediately, and that openness and transparency be brought to the debate over healthcare reform and all other issues before Congress.
The voters in Massachusetts have spoken. By a comfortable margin of 7% they have elected Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate. Democrat leaders such as Harry Reid have floated the idea of dragging their feet in seating Scott Brown - with the hopes that they can ram through their awful healthcare bill before Brown can be seated.
We reject any and all attempts to delay the certification of this election and call for the immediate seating of Scott Brown in the U.S. Senate!

Scott Brown takes Massachusetts!
I don’t know when I have been more excited about a candidate winning an election. Probably not since Reagan was elected President. I feel like we have taken our country back. If we can win in Massachusetts we can win anywhere! I know there is still a long way to go but President Obama put his prestige on the line and lost. Obama made this a referendum on his presidency. He lost. The writing is on the wall. We will retake our country.
I was doing some phone bank volunteer work tonight at the state Party headquarters for a local Republican organizing effort and was working with about fifteen other Republicans. When the AP called the election for Scott Brown, the room broke into spontaneous applause and cheers. It was a great place to be to witness this victory. This win in Massachusetts changes the political landscape. We have a right to be energized and excited. We not only won, we won by a sizable majority.
The Democrats will try to rationalize this lost. They are already saying Coakley did not work hard enough and ran a lack luster campaign. That is all true, but Massachusetts is a state with a three to one Democratic Party majority. Ted Kennedy had held this seat for 47 years. If there was any safe seat for a Democrat, this was it. There is no way to rationalize this loss. It was a referendum on Obama’s presidency and Obama’s policies were repudiated.
The Democrats may still ram through Obamacare but it will be at their own peril. If they delay allowing Brown to take his seat, the public disgust with the Democrats and their backroom deals and crooked politics will only grow. The tide has turned. The Obama revolution is over.
In the most recent poll, Scott Brown leads Martha Coakley by four points! Wow! The momentum is going Brown's way. He continues to climb in the polls.
"Well with all due respect its not the Kennedys' seat, and its not the Democrats' seat, it's the people's seat."
A new Rasmussen poll has come out showing the Massachusetts Special Election for U.S. Senate is a dead heat. The poll has Democrat Martha Coakley (49%)leading Republican Scott Brown (47%) by just a 2% margin.
The previous Rasmussen poll showed Brown closing the gap but still down 9%. This new poll shows the momentum continues to be with Scott Brown.
This latest poll results also include “leaners,” described as those who don’t initially have a preference for one of the major candidates but indicate that they are leaning in that direction. Without “leaners,” Brown was actually ahead by a single percentage point.
I would bet most readers of A Disgruntled Republican are not members of MoveOn.org. I am. I am so you don't have to be. I thought you might find it interesting to see how concerned the left is about the possibility of losing the Ted Kennedy Senate seat to a Republican. Please read. If the left should loose this seat they would have a major pity party and would have the wind taken from their sail. Please, please do anything you can do to help Scott Brown take this seat. The post following this one has information about how to drop the moneybomb and push Scott Brown over the top. Also, I don't know for sure that God is Republican but I am praying for a blizzard in Massachusetts on January 19. Please pray for that blizzard; it can't hurt.
An interesting unknown in this race is the roll of the third party candidate. Some reports call him a "libertarian." I really have not researched him and don't know a lot about him. He could hurt Brown by pulling away a few votes that would otherwise go to the Republican. On the other hand, the third party candidate is named "Joe Kennedy." How lucky is that? I have always thought that stupid Democrats were more stupid than stupid Republicans. I am betting that Joe Kennedy will cost the Democrat more votes than he cost the Republican. We could win this one. It would be a fantastic victory. I know it is a long shot, but it is worth the investment.

A new poll Tuesday showed Democrat Martha Coakley's lead in the special election to succeed Kennedy is at the edge of the margin of error, and the non-partisan Cook Political Report now says it's very competitive.1 And today, some of the people behind the infamous Swift Boat and racist Willie Horton ads are spending $400,000 on a new attack ad. Republican Scott Brown and his extreme right-wing supporters are significantly outspending Coakley on TV.2
A Republican victory here would be a catastrophe—Democrats would lose their 60th vote in the Senate, health care could die, and the Republicans could block pretty much anything they want.
We can't let a right-winger take over Ted Kennedy's seat because not enough progressives are paying attention. Coakley urgently needs help before it's too late. Martha Coakley will carry on Ted Kennedy's progressive legacy. In endorsing Coakley, Vicki Kennedy, Ted Kennedy's wife, said, "My husband fought for healthcare reform for more than 40 years. Martha Coakley shares those critical beliefs." Coakley has also been outspoken against restrictions in the bill on women's right to choose.3
As Massachusetts Attorney General, Coakley was aggressive in challenging the Wall Street titans who helped bring on the financial crisis, and she recovered tens of millions of dollars for taxpayers and victims of Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and UBS for their deceptive activities.4 She'll be a strong fighter in Washington for tough regulations on the financial industry.
And Republican Scott Brown? He's a "free enterprise advocate"5 who thinks the system works just fine. But he's giving Coakley a serious challenge. He promised, "As the 41st senator I can stop a lot of this stuff in its tracks....I can actually force them to go back to the drawing board."6 And there are rumors that the Republican Party and the Club for Growth will also begin attack ads on Coakley soon.
And the race is further confused by the presence of a 3rd candidate, named Joe Kennedy, who isn't related to Ted Kennedy, but is a tea-party extremist. Martha Coakley needs our help to cut through the clutter and get her message out—on TV, at the doors, and on the phones.

I know it hard to believe but the Senate seat held forever by the late Senator Ted Kennedy is in play. According to a Rasmussen poll on Tuesday, State Attorney General Martha Coakley holds only a nine-point lead over her Republican rival, state Senator Scott Brown in that Massachusetts contest. Seven percent of the voters are still undecided.
I know it is an uphill fight, but who would have ever thought a contest for Kennedy's Senate seat could be that close. If Republicans can win Massachusetts they can win anywhere. Win or loose, that the contest is this close is significant. This bodes well for Republicans next fall. What an astounding victory it would be if Republicans could take this seat. If a Republican can win this contest, many Democrats will simply decide to retire.
When a race is this close then voter intensity counts. Brown has the enthusiasm factor. If a blizzard hits on election day the candidate with the most committed supporters could win. Election day efforts to get voters to the polls can make a difference when elections are this close.
Unfortunately the fight is a David versus Goliath battle. The Dems vastly outnumber the Repubs in Massachusetts and Coakley has a current war chest of almost three times that of Brown and throughout the campaign she has vastly outspent Brown. Brown has spent only $450,000 on television ads compared to $1.4 million by Coakley. (link) The momentum however is going in the direction of Brown! Daily, the gap has been narrowing and recently funds have been pouring into the Brown campaign. While there are only eleven days left until the election, a lot can happen in eleven days.
