The Tennessean exhibits sexist and gender prejudice in news reporting.

by Rod Williams - In a story in today's Tennessean, it was reported, "Police look for thieves; vehicles had children inside." According to the report, a two year old girl was safe and sound after the incident. A "mother" went into a Citgo on Brick Church Pike to make a purchase and left the car running with her infant child in the car.  Suspects jumped in the car and drove off. By tracking the location of the vehicle, due to the mother also leaving  her cell phone in the car, the police were able to track the vehicle to a location in east Nashville, where the child was found crying standing on the front porch of a home. The thieves and vehicle were not located.

This is the second incident of this nature in a 48 hour period. The other happened at a Mapco on Stewards Ferry Pike the day before and three children were in the stolen car. The thieves later abandoned the car and the children were found unharmed. The thieves in the second vehicle were also identified as male.

The story did not mention the race of the thieves but in the first incident a picture captured from the stores video security camera shows the thieves to be African American.

The official city of Nashville press release did not identify the thieves as "men," but reported the story this way:

Suspect
Detectives are continuing in their efforts to identify the persons responsible for two apparently unrelated car thefts in which children who had been left in the vehicles were briefly taken.
At 6:20 p.m. Sunday, thieves jumped into a white Hyundai Elantra that had been left running with a 2-year-old child inside while her mother went into Terry’s Quick Stop at 3050 Brick Church Pike.  The persons who stole the Elantra got out of a blue Nissan Versa that was stolen on April 10th from the driveway of a home on Elmore Avenue.  It had also been left unattended and running.  Both the Elantra and the Versa fled the parking lot.  Officers were able to track the victim’s cell phone to East Nashville and located the 2-year-old crying and standing on the front porch of a home in the 1000 block of Pennock Avenue.  She was unharmed.  Officers located the abandoned stolen Versa in an alley between Meridian Street and Pennock Avenue.  The Elantra has not yet been recovered.
Why did The Tennessean identify the thieves as "males?"  Why, like the Metro press release, did they not call the thieves "persons?" By identifying the thieves as men, The Tennessean is guilty of furthering the stereotype and prejudice that males are more likely to be criminals than are females. Society disproportionately incarcerates many more men than women. Of the prison population 91.7% are male. It would seem that an enlightened policy would strive to have no more men incarcerated than women. Surely there is not a gender difference that would result in more male incarceration than female. Perhaps there should be a moratorium on incarcerating any more men until the ratios reflect the approximate 50% that men and women each represent of the population. As long as our media continues to perpetuate prejudice against men such justice will not be achieved.

Not only are more men incarcerated than women, but police routinely treat men and women differently.  In a routine traffic stop police use more caution and display a firmer attitude when approaching a car with a male driver than a female driver. Police do not treat the sexes equally. Movies and TV crime programs routinely show men more violent and prone to crime than women.

In addition to furthering the societal prejudice that leads to more men being incarcerated than women, The Tennessean report also calls into question the appropriateness of even using the term "male" and "female."  After all, is not sex and gender a societal construct? Even if the thieves appeared to be "male," how do we know they think of themselves as male. Obviously, the reporter did not interview the "men" to ask them their gender preference or gender identity. They could have been male, female, transgender or gender fluid.

In addition to the prejudiced against men, the story also furthered the stereotyping of some women as bad mothers.  Was it necessary to report that the "mother" went into the story to make a purchase and left the child in the car with the engine running?  Why did the story not report that "the parent" or "adult guardian" went into the store.

Many years ago, The Tennessee and other mainstream news outlets began concealing the race of those committing crime. How long must we wait before the same enlighten attitude applies to sex and gender and that prejudicial sexist distinction is also concealed?

Clinton rape victim Juanita Broddrick and other Clinton victims speak out

Fox News - For the first time since the 2016 election, several women who have accused Bill Clinton of past sexual misconduct appeared together in public to revive their allegations against the ex-president amid the wave of new harassment claims in Washington.

The three women – Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey and Leslie Millwee – recounted their accusations against Clinton during a press conference at the National Press Club on Wednesday.

“I was 35 years old when Bill Clinton, the Arkansas attorney general, raped me,” former nursing home administrator Broaddrick said. “And Hillary Clinton tried to silence me. I’m now 74. And it never goes away.” (read more)

My Comment: A wave of allegations of sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct is sweeping the country and the list of accused offenders includes everyone from liberal darlings like Al Franken, Matt Lauer, and Garison Keillor, to comedian Louis C.K, to various Hollywood moguls, to business leaders and politicians. The charges vary in severity from a consensual kiss but with some unwelcome tongue action, to being made to feel uncomfortable, to a hand that was placed too low or too high during a photo op, to indecent exposure, to charges of a 30 year old man attempting to seduce a 14 year old girl.

It seems no segment of society or political persuasion is exempt. The most recent wave started with Fox news and the resignation of Roger Ails and Bill O'Riley.  Liberals welcomed the news and spoke of the problem of a corporate culture at Fox.  Now that the charges have landed on liberal news networks and has exposed liberal politicians, liberals can  not be nearly as smug and self-righteous.

There was a wave of revulsion by feminist when candidate Donal Trump was recorded making a comment that he was so rich and powerful that he could "just grab 'em by the pussy." Following that revealing comment, there were several women who came forward accusing Trump of inappropriate sexual conduct.

I agree with those who think Donald Trump is crude and offensive.  What gets me however is that the same people who are repulsed by Donald Trump and think his attitude toward women should disqualify him from pubic office still defend Bill Clinton.  They chose not to believe the allegations. They don't want to even know about the allegations.

While some of the sexual misconduct and inappropriate behavior being brought to light should cause public criticism, some people not to be elected to office, some newscasters to lose their jobs, and some politician to resign, Bill Clinton should still be serving time in prison.

The allegations of rape against Bill Clinton are collaborated and believable.  Monica Lewinsky was the least offensive of the Bill Clinton offenses.  In addition to  raping women he destroyed their careers and had them fired when they wouldn't put out. There is a long list of Clinton victims.  Liberals simply do not want to know about Bill Clinton's crimes and don't want to believe them. Anyone who continues to support Bill Clinton and excuse his rape and sexual harassment has no moral authority to condemn President Trump or Roy Moore.

Johns Hopkins Psychiatrist: Transgender is ‘Mental Disorder;' Sex Change ‘Biologically Impossible’

I know it is politically correct to accept that there are many more than just two sexes now. Some people doing the classifying have five or six classifications. Sexual orientation and biological sex get mixed up and a biological man with a penis may get referred to in news stories as  "she" and "her" if  he wears lipstick and acts feminine.  The politically correct think everyone should get to choose if they are referred to as a "he" or a "she" despite what is between their legs and should get to choose which bathroom they use despite their physical anatomy. Facebook has 51 categories one my chose to describe their sexual identity.  Female impersonators and cross dressers and others who are confused about their gender identity are treated as if they were not male or female but are "transgender."  Not everyone got the memo:

Dr. Paul R. McHugh, the former psychiatrist-in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital and its current Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry, said that transgenderism is a “mental disorder” that merits treatment, that sex change is “biologically impossible,” and that people who promote sexual reassignment surgery are collaborating with and promoting a mental disorder. More about the teacher at Pearl-Cohn who had "inappropriate contact" with a student

Back on November 24th I posted that a first-year female teacher at Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet

Marquita Alston
High School was accused of  having sex with a male students. I had no other details at the time and that was about all I knew and I never saw a follow up.

Contacting the school system, after some delay I got more information. This is the press release the school issued at the time of the incident:
Marquita Alston, a teacher at Pearl-Cohn High School, has been accused of inappropriate contact with students. Immediately upon becoming aware of these allegations, Principal Sonia Stewart called Metro Police and Alston was placed on administrative leave. Student safety is always our No. 1 priority. MNPS is cooperating fully with Metro Police in the investigation. This is Alston’s first year with Metro Schools.
I may have jumped to conclusions when I originally reported she was "having sex" with the student. I can not find the original source of my information and reports I now read only say she had "inappropriate contact."

School officials report that Ms. Alston resigned two or three working days after the incident was reported and that the matter was turned over to Metro Police and they are investigating the matter. When police are involved, MNPS is advised not to conduct an investigation as it may interfere with the police investigation.

This story was reported in the media in more detail than I had, but my attempt to do a Google search was not successful without the name of the teacher. Below is news story that ran at the time.

Ms Alston's auto bio is still on the Peal-Cohn webpage and this is what says about herself:
My name is Marquita Alston and I am a science teacher in the AEC academy. I am from Covington, TN and this is my first year at Pearl-Cohn. I graduated with a degree in Forensic Science and Spanish from the Middle Tennessee State University. I enjoy working out, going to the movies, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing. My favorite quote is by Maya Angelou and it says, “Without courage we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.
On a website called "Black Planet," in 2010 she wrote:

My name is Marquita Alston. I am a college intellectual and I have nothing, but success on my mind! I am aspiring to be a doctor/medical examiner. If you would like to know more about me, just ask! I am delighted to meet you!

-Marquita
Ms Alston now has a resume posted online and updated Feb. 15, 2015, but of course does not mention her employment with MNPS.

It should be noted that Ms Alston has not yet been found guilty of a crime but her abrupt resignation after being charges certainly makes her look guilty.  I am perplexed as to what would cause this.  A look at her resume and statements, shows a story of someone who overcame adversity, who had high ambitions, who had had academic success in the area of science where few women excel, who considers herself an intellectual and says "I have nothing but success on my mind."

She had just graduated a few months earlier and was just starting her promising career and then had "inappropriate contact" with a student and threw it all away or certainly had a setback. I will continue to follow this story and report more details when they become available.

Teachers having sex with students appears to not be that uncommon of an occurrence and it looks like a whole lot more female teachers are having sex with male students than male teachers having sex with female students, but of course that could be a function of reporting, not what is really happening. For more of my thoughts on this issue and other examples of this type of occurrence, follow this link.

Teachers having sex with students

A first-year female teacher at Pearl-Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School is being accused of having sex with a male students.  Details are not yet available.

Is this an epidemic or what? It seems like this is a fairly common occurrence.  One thing I have noticed is that most of the teachers who abuse these poor children are damn hot. When I was in school it seems like I never had any hot teachers. Also, some of the predators are multiple rapist and had more than one student as a lover. Several of these incidents happened here in Tennessee.

Here is a sampling of some of the incidents and pictures of the predators.  Also, keep in mind that these are not clamor shots; some of these pictures may be photos taken after they were confronted about their crime and they may not have looked their best.

Pamela Rogers Turner
Pamela Rogers Turner, 27: Former model and beauty-pageant contestant also taught at Centertown Elementary School in McMinnville, Tenn. She was arrested in February 2005 for allegedly having a three-month sexual relationship with a 13-year-old boy. She resigned her teaching position and was charged with 15 counts of sexual battery and 13 counts of statutory rape. Originally sentenced to 270 days in August 2005, she got in additional trouble in April 2006 for sending text messages, nude photos, and sex videos of herself to the same boy while using her father’s cellphone. In July 2006, she was sentenced to serve eight years for violating her probation, and in January 2007, was given an additional two years for sending the photos.

Sandra Binkley, 35: The Portland, Tenn., High School teacher was charged Sept. 25, 2008, with statutory rape by an authority figure as the result of sexual contact with a 17-year-old boy during school hours. A week later, two more students came forward claiming they had had a sexual encounter, also, on and off campus.

Amy McElhenney
Amy McElhenney, 25: Charged with having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male student, the 25-year-old Hebron High School Spanish teacher and former Miss Texas contestant will not be serving any jail time after a Denton County, Texas, grand jury refused to issue an indictment in September 2006. While the age of consent in Texas is 17 years, a state law bans sexual relationships between educators and students even if the student is of legal age and the relationship is consensual. She could have faced 20 years in prison if indicted and convicted.

Angela Comer
Angela Comer, 26: Middle-school teacher from Tompkinsville, Ky., fled with her alleged lover, her 14-year-old male student, before being tracked down in Mexico where she reportedly planned to marry the boy. Comer later claimed she was forced at gunpoint by the boy to go to Mexico. She was indicted in January 2006 for illegal sex acts with a minor and returned to Kentucky. Charges included felony custodial interference, two counts of third-degree sodomy and four counts of unlawful transaction with a minor relating to sexual acts. On May 9, 2007, Comer pleaded guilty to one-count of third-degree sodomy, and was slated to serve 10 years in prison as part of a plea agreement.

Cynthia Horvath
Cynthia Horvath, 45: Former English teacher and cheer coach at Warner Christian Academy in South Daytona Beach, Fla. was arrested Oct. 22, 2008, on charges related to an ongoing sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student. Police reports say most of the senior class at the school knew there was something going on and it was finally students who told a staff member about the affair and the school told police. Horvath is married and has a 17-year-old son who attends Warner Christian.

Melissa Dawn McCord
Melissa Dawn McCord, 35: Special education teacher at West Carroll
Elementary in Atwood, Tenn., faces several charges, including statutory rape by an authority figure after being arrested on Jan. 29, 2009. Police say a 14-year-old junior high student, who had dated McCord’s daughter, reported the woman had performed oral sex on him at a city park on two occasions. The police report said the teenager’s parents had several text conversations between McCord and the boy in their possession.

Stacy L. Hopkins
Stacy L. Hopkins, 28: Physical-education teacher and basketball coach at Arlington High School in Shelby County, Tenn., was arrested May, 5, 2011, after allegedly having sex with two male students and texting them nude photos of herself. The students, both under age 18 at the time of the alleged incidents, told school officials they had sexual intercourse with Hopkins. The teacher told investigators she taught both students and admitted to the crimes.

Summer M. Hansen
Summer Michelle Hansen, 31: Special-education teacher at Centennial High School in Corona, Calif., was charged Aug. 13, 2013, with having sex with five students and sending the boys sexual text messages and nude photographs of herself. Hansen faces 16 felony counts and could receive up to 13 years in prison if convicted. Court documents show Hansen was suspected of engaging in sexual intercourse and oral sex with the boys on campus and at one victim’s home as far back as May 2012. All five boys were students at the school, but none was a student of Hansen. One student,17, told detectives Hansen had been exchanging sexual text messages with him, some attached to revealing and nude photographs. The teacher allegedly said she wanted to give him a “prize” for doing well in a baseball game. She kept him after class in Saturday school and, after all of the other students had left, began kissing him, and engaged in sex acts, the boy claimed. Hansen, through her attorney, has denied the allegations.

For dozens more stories of this nature, follow this link.

I can't fathom what would make an attractive women such as Pamela Rogers Truner want to have sex with a 13-year-old boy. Is it a mental illness? Is it stunted emotional development? Has this always happened and just not been reported or is this a new phenomenon?

I know that situations of this nature are treated the same as if the sexes were reversed and it is just as much of a crime if a 31-year-old female teacher like Summer Hansen has sex with five male students as it would me if a 31-year-old male teacher had sex with five female students. I, however, do not feel the same about it.  If a 31-year-old male had sex with five female students, I would feel outrage and want him to go to prison for a very long time. Pamela Rogers Truner's victim was only 13-years-old. If a 27-year-old male teacher had sex with a 13-year-old girl, I would be feel very differently about it than I do Pamela Rogers Truner having sex with a 13-year-old boy.  If I had a 13-year-old daughter who was a victim of a male teacher's sexual advances I know I would feel differently about it than if I had a 13-year-old son who was Pamela Rogers Truner's victim. I know there may be emotional damage to the 13-year-old boy, but somehow it just does not seem as bad. If a male teacher took advantage of my 13-year-old daughter, I would want to kill him.

I know that we cannot condone any teacher of either sex having sex with students and I don't, but I admit I have a double standard about this.  We are supposed to pretend that we are equally outraged regardless of the sex of the predator and victims and it is just not politically correct not to think the crime is equally reprehensible regardless of the sex of the parties involved.  I can't always explain my double standard but I admit it.  In many ways I think male and female are different. I think a double standard may be rooted in nature. I am going to say something totally politically incorrect but I bet I am not the only male who feels this way:  When I was a teenager, I wish I would have been a victim of a teacher like Pamela Rogers Turner or Summer Michelle Hansen.

Unbelieveable what they are teaching in school

This is unbelievable! This is happening in Shawnee Kansas and as far as I know it is not happening in Nashville, but if it is happening in Shawnee Kansas it could be happening anywhere. This has nothing to do with common core but about the coarsening of our culture and the way institutions reflect popular culture and have abandoned teaching values.

Education is too important to be left to the education establishment and professional educators. Parents must get involved. Even we without children in school have something at stake in what children are being taught. Children do not belong to the state. We need to insist on the public reviewing and approving text books and what is taught in schools. We need more charter schools so parents can be involved at a level where their voice matters. We need vouchers so parents can select schools that reflect their values and people need to elect school board members who reflect their values and people who would never tolerate this sort of thing need to run for the local school board.

I am certainly no prude, but 13 year old girls do not need to have anal sex taught to them in the classroom!

In this report, a school administrator defends the poster and says that the approved curriculum is in line with what other schools around the country do as well. “The curriculum it is a part of, it aligns with national standards around those topics, and it’s part of our curriculum in the school district,” she said. Well, if that is so, we need to be very concerned and not follow the national standards when it come to teaching about sex. I would like to know what Nashville schools are teaching. I would like for someone to demand to see the material and I would like for concerned parents and citizens to audit the classes that address sex education.

Welcome Slut-walk.

Slut Walk is coming to Nashville. In celebration, I want to play you one of my favorite songs.

I Like My Women On the Trashy Side, by Confederate Railroad.
Warning: If offended by slutty women, do not watch.

Yeah, I like my women just a little on the trashy side...
When they wear their clothes too tight and their hair is dyed.
Too much lipstick and too much rouge gets me excited, gets me feelin' confused.
Yeah, I like my women just a little on the trashy side...

I have to admit it; I have a weakness for trashy women. I never wanted to marry one, but they are fun to be with. They are fun to watch. I guess trashy women and slutty women are the same thing, aren't they?

Slut Walk is coming to Nashville on October 2 in Centennial Park. I will be there to admire and lust. I want to show my support for sluts everywhere.

I know there is supposed to be a political message in Slut-Walk, something about that just because you dress like a slut or are a slut that that does not justify rape. Duh, I get it already. I never did think that because you are a slut or dress like a slut that it justified rape. If you don't want to be rapped however, it might help to use some common sense and be prudent. If you go to a bar and dress slutty and act slutty and get drunk and go home with some guy and then do not want to have sex, you may have increased your chances of getting raped. That is not to say you "invited it." Don't take offense. That is not blaming the victim.

If you don't want to be robbed you should use some common sense also. If you flash a big roll of cash in a lower class bar and get drunk and stumble out of the bar alone, you may be robbed. Is that "inviting" being robbed? To avoid being raped or being robbed it might be wise to moderate your behavior and use common sense and take less risk.

Any way, back to slutty-looking women. I really don't want my wife or mother or sisters or daughter to dress like a slut, but I appreciate it when your mother or wife or sister or daughter dresses like a slut.

Some women are just naturally slutty looking and other women just can't pull it off. Here are some hints. Normal cleavage is just alluring; cleavage in a push up bra is slutty. Bra-less is a white t-shirt is slutty. Pantie hose are not even sexy; stockings and garter belts are slutty. Ankle bracelets are slutty. Stockings with seems up the back are slutty. A skimpy bathing suit may be sexy; a skimpy bathing suit worn with high heels is slutty. Slutty and sexy are closely related, but slutty is a step beyond sexy. A women can be slutty and does not even have to be pretty.

I hope slut walk is the real deal and not just a bunch of tired old feminist who are not even sexy, trying to act slutty. If Slut-walk is a real success, then maybe next year we could have a three-day Slut-Fest. I can think of how to fill three days. You could have lectures on the great sluts in world history or the great sluts of Hollywood. You could have pole dancing demonstrations. You could have vendors, such as an on-site tattoo parlor, and wig vendors and slutty clothing boutiques, and high heal vendors selling real high, high heels and vinyl above the knee boots.

You could have contest like, slutty secretary contest, slutty nurse contest, slutty cougar contest, slutty lounge singer contest and slutty teen contest, and you could have lollipop licking demonstrations. There could be classes on walking and talking and acting slutty. And, it could all be for a good cause such as raising money for rape prevention.

Will have sex for health care reform.

OK, let’s think about this. Say you are the kind of gal who if she likes a guy and the chemistry is right will sleep with him. You meet some guy, he is oh so cute, and you both just love Chinese food and you enjoy the same movies and have the same favorite rock band. There is some definite chemistry going on. He takes you home. You invite him in. You get into some nuzzling and kissing and caressing and groping. You move it to the bedroom and then you turn to the guy and say, “I have to ask you something.” He thinks you are going to ask about birth control. Instead, you say, “Do you support health care reform?” While looking you in the eye, the guy will smile and look adoringly at you and whisper, “yes.” The sex is great.

Now, if the next day he calls and ask you out again and you have a more detailed discussion about the news of the day and you discover he is for health care reform but not the single payer system, will you feel betrayed? Will you have more great sex with him or not? Or, let us say, he is for health care reform but not the Medicare expansion, does that end the sex? Will you feel used? What if he tells you he is for health care reform, but the reform he favors is tort reform, removing the ban on purchasing insurance across state lines, and shifting the income tax deduction for health care from the employer to the employee and he favors health insurance tax credits? Will you feel dirty? Is the sex over?

What if the next day you discover he is for the Senate version of health care but not the House version? How will that make you feel? Is the sex over? So, before you jump in bed be sure you really know what the guy believes about health care reform. I know that is not as much fun as talking about food and movies and rock bands but don’t make a fatal mistake and bed someone who doesn’t agree with you on this important topic. Also, you might want to make sure you agree about the war in Afghanistan and the death penalty and cap and trade and expanding the minimum wage and immigration reform. What if you agree about health care reform but disagree about some of this other stuff?

Here is another consideration girls: guys lie for sex. I hate to be the one to tell you this but it is true. They will lie about birth control, liking Chinese food and their favorite band. To get laid they would definitely lie about their position on health care reform.
