- Outgoing state Rep. Rick Womick filed two ethics complaints Thursday against House Speaker Beth Harwell, contending she "abused her position" for actions that "destroyed her independence of judgment."
Womick, a Rockvale Republican who is not seeking re-election, said in
his first complaint that Harwell conducted an "unauthorized,
unconstitutional investigation" of former Rep. Jeremy Durham. He also claims she involved Attorney General Herbert Slatery
in the investigation even though he has opined that neither he nor
Harwell had authority to investigate a General Assembly member without
House approval.(link)
