Metro School Board stikes another blow against charter schools

Led by Will Pinkston, the School Board last night again struck another blow against charter schools. In 2014, new charter schools will only be allowed in area where overcrowding exist or in areas where the regular public school has been declared a failing school for the last three years. It seems that excellence in education is way down on the list of School Board priorities. In my view, the State needs to appoint a State Authorizer and take charter schools out of the hands of local school boards.

Here is The Tennessean's report: Metro school board limits '14 charter expansion to certain areas.
