A Republican Love Fest at Union Station

There is nothing like making up after a good fight. The Republicans made up. They are united and ready to win elections!

This morning the Republicans had a love fest! Ron Ramsey told how much he liked Zack Wamp and Bill Haslam and how he was going to do all he could to help get Haslam elected. Zack Wamp told how much he respected and admired Ron Ramsey and Bill Haslam, and then Haslam told how much he loved, admired and respected Wamp and Ramsey and how with their help he would be the next governor of Tennessee. They did not mention all those nasty things they said about each other in TV commercials. All is love and peace and harmony.


Marsha Blackburn calls David Hall to the Stage

The event was the Tennessee Republican Party State Executive Committee Meeting at the Union Station Hotel also billed as a Unity Rally. About three hundred people packed the McKinley Room of the Union Station and more were in the Grand Lobby who could not get in. Numerous county Party chairman were present, as were state house candidates, and party activist from across the state.

Senator Lamar Alexander addressed the group and reminisced about how he walked across the state to win the governorship in 1978 and how the party had grown since those days. Senator Corker spoke and introduced Ramsey and Wamp and Haslam. Marsha Blackburn introduced the nine Republican candidates for U.S. House Seats.

There is good news all across the state. To a rousing cheer we learned that for the first time ever the Shelby County legislative body is all Republican.

This was a great event. It was nice to meet energized Republicans from across the state and to see former opponents united in their goal of winning elections and advancing the Republican agenda.

Tennessee's next governor continue to hold double-digit leads over Democratic candidate

According to Rasmussen the next Governor of Tennessee will be a Republican! Knoxville's mayor Haslam leads the pack with a lead of 50% to 32% over presumed Democratic nominee Mike McWherter. Wamp and Ramsey are tied, beating McWherter 44% t 33%.

This is great news! Not only is it great news because we can almost be assured the next governor will be a Republican but if the top of the ticket is a Republican this is good news for Republicans further down the ballot. This means that Republican state representative candidates and senate candidates and Republican U. S. representative candidates. and Republican courthouse candidates have a better chance than they otherwise would have of winning elections. Many Democrats will be discouraged and stay home. This is a Republican year!

Another encouraging finding of this recent poll is that Tennesseans favor repeal of Obamacare by a 63% to 30% margin. This does not mean we can relax and assume our good Republican candidates are destined to win. It means the public is conservative and are inclined to support our candidates. It means that if we work hard they have a chance to win. It is still an uphill battle.

We all need to pitch in and open our wallets so they have the money to challenge the entrenched liberal career politicians and we need to volunteer to work the polls on election day and put a yard sign in our yard and work the phone banks and host a neighborhood "meet and greet." We have an opportunity to win elections if we work hard and don't blow it.

1st Tuesday Meetup: Zach Wamp to be guest.

1st Tuesday is on 1st Monday but only for November!

Location: Waller Lansden, 511 Union St, Floor 27, Nashville

1st Tuesday is a always a great event. Hear interesting speakers in a room with a view, have a nice meal for a reasonable price and network with other Republican. Park cheap at 511 Union or free or cheap in the public garage beneath the library, which is less than a block away. Anyone is welcome to attend. The meeting is exactly one hour long, so you can attend and not be gone from work that long. Lunch is from Alexander's Catering and is $20 for guests, $15 for members. Membership in 1st Tuesday is only $20 a year. If you are a Republican or a conservative and in the Nashville area, you really owe it to yourself to start attending 1st Tuesday.

Come out and meet Zach Wamp and help his official kickoff of the gubernatorial campaign. See what his passion is, ask insightful questions, be attentive and get there early if you want a great meal. (link)

Wamp is an 8th term Republican Congressman from Tennessee 3rd District which is in East Tennessee and includes the city of Chattanooga. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee on the Energy and Water Subcommittee and as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs.

He has become a leader on national issues such as alternative energy, preventive health care and global security. He is the co-chairman of the House Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus and the founder and co-chairman of the Congressional Fitness Caucus.

Zach was instrumental in forming the Tennessee Valley Technology Corridor which promotes a technology-based economic development agenda.

A Chattanooga native, Zach spent 12 years as a small businessman and commercial real estate broker before being elected to Congress.
