My Comment 
I am having a hard time believing this.  I don't know them well, but I have interacted with them some in the campaign.  They seem so much in love and seemed to be such a model family.  They had a new baby born just days before the election. 

I know the current wisdom is to always to believe the charge in a case like this. I am going to withhold judgement and assume the accused is innocent until proven guilty.

Staats Campaign Asks Cooper Camp To Stop Sign Theft

The Brad Staats for Congress Campaign today urged the Jim Cooper Campaign to demand that its volunteers cease and desist from stealing Staats campaign signs in Cheatham, Dickson, and Davidson counties.  “There are always a few pranksters in every election cycle that get their kicks lifting signs out of people’s yards,” said Staats.  “We have been getting notifications every so often from supporters about yard signs going missing, but a recent event has required us to go public with this.  It has gotten out of hand.”

Staats continued, “My good friend Carl Boyd (Carl Boyd is the radio talk show host of the “Nothing But The Truth” show heard each Sunday on 99.7 WTN)  had been putting out a lot of my signs in the Antioch area and noticed that many of them were disappearing.  On a recent trip home, he saw a man in Antioch taking those very signs and putting them in his truck covered with Jim Cooper bumper stickers.  When he stopped the man and inquired about his actions, he noticed the man had over 75 “Staats For Congress” signs in the back of his truck.  After a rather unpleasant exchange, Carl was able to retrieve the signs.  This guy was not a prankster, but a thief.  These signs are expensive and we have been watching our expenses very closely.  Jim Cooper needs to come out of his bunker and put a stop to this.”  Staats has previously chided Cooper for refusing to engage him in public discussion about the issues that matter to Tennesseans.

“Perhaps stealing our signs is the Cooper campaign’s way of expressing its concern about Jim being a Democrat in a red state running for re-election on the ticket with an incredibly unpopular, ineffective President,” said Staats.

Staats Calls for White House to Come Clean on Benghazi

Brad Staats, Republican candidate for Tennessee’s 5^th District House Seat, today urged President Obama to stop stonewalling the information related to the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya that resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including the American Ambassador to Libya, Andrew Stevens.   “There are too many unanswered questions that have been raised about the handling of this horrific attack.   As the Commander-in-Chief, Obama is responsible for what happens relative to the defense of the nation.  If someone else dropped the ball, then that information needs to be immediately made known.”

 “Though the mainstream news media is giving Obama a pass on this, our Representative, Jim Cooper, needs to be front-and-center demanding an answer from the President.  When it comes to demanding accountability for the attack on American soil and the loss of American life, there are no political parties.  Remember, it was Republicans, including Tennessee Senator Howard Baker, who called upon Richard Nixon to come clean during the Watergate scandal and ultimately forced him from office.  Jim Cooper owes the citizens of District 5 an answer to why he is, once again, “missing in action” on this matter of high national security.”

Staats had previously called on Cooper to come on local radio with him and discuss these issues.  Staats appeared Monday morning on the Steve Gill Show with the intent of engaging Congressman Cooper on his record.  Cooper declined the invitation.  “The Benghazi event may be a political “hot potato”, but Tennesseans deserve to know what their elected Representatives are doing to get to the truth about the deaths of their fellow citizens,” said Staats.

Brad Staats challenges Jim Cooper to debate

Brad Staats today announced that he is inviting Rep. Jim Cooper (D), Nashville to join him in a discussion of the issues on the Steve Gill Show. “Jim Cooper has flown under the policy radar for too long and it is time for him to surface and defend his liberal voting record,” said Staats. “Jim is out of touch with the people of the 5th District and they need to know how far left he is of their principles.”

Cooper has represented the 5th District for XX terms and has never faced a serious challenge since replacing Bob Clement. Staats continued, “Though called the “Jackson District” for former President Andrew Jackson, Jackson would not recognize the policy positions of Jim Cooper as being anyway related to his political heritage. Jackson was a fierce policy Conservative, being one of the biggest opponents in his day to the National Bank, an entity he felt was a federal overreach.”

“Jim Cooper has carried Barack Obama’s water for four long years and the 5th District is drowning in it. He needs to come out and publicly defend his voting record. Our current economic malaise is directly related to Democrat Party control over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and their refusal to rein them in after they took control of Congress in 2009. Jim was ‘missing in action’ on these issues and the 5th District is paying the price. He should come out and defend his record.”

Watching Romney win the debate at the GOP debate watch party

I watched the debate tonight at the Republican Party debate watch party at Three Stones Pub in Belleview. About 65 people filled the bar and watched TV on about six different screens. It was great to watch the debate in this setting with like minded people. People applauded and cheered as Romney scored points and hit Obama with zingers.

In my opinion, Romney knocked it out of the ball park. He had a mastery of the issues, he appeared calm and sure of himself and did not let Obama get away with distorting his position. Obama, on the other hand, appeared grumpy and defensive and mad and had trouble articulating a position.

I could not have been more pleased. I have not yet watched or read commentary so I don't know how professional journalist and spin artist saw it, but I thought Romney was by far the better debater and presented the more compelling

The next debate party will be the vice presidential debate on Wednesday October 11and will be at the GOP Nashville office in Green Hills at 4801 Hillsboro Rd, formerly Wolf Camera, next to McDonalds. There will be finger food and wine for sure and maybe other beverages. This is a free event. Come watch the debate with people who share your values, wear your Romney-Ryan gear and cheer for our team.
