Council passes bill to acquire land for Gulch pedestrian bridge

by Joey Garrison , The Tennessean, 10-19-2016- The Metro Council completed a deal Tuesday to acquire the final piece of land the city needs to build a long-discussed controversial pedestrian bridge connecting downtown Nashville’s Gulch and SoBro neighborhoods.

Now the main hurdle that remains to making the $18 million project a reality is settling on a design for the 700-foot-long bridge.

The council voted 34-3 to give final approval of a transaction with the owner of the office complex Cummins Station to acquire land on the SoBro side of the bridge needed for the project. (link)
