COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov. 15, 2012) – On Thursday, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley sent a letter
to HHS Secretary Sebelius indicating the Palmetto State will not create
a state insurance exchange under the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act.
“After several months of public meetings and external research, the
committee recommended that the state not pursue a state-based exchange
because operational rules were not yet defined and the limited
flexibility that was offered to states,” he wrote. “President Obama’s
reelection has not changed this assessment, nor has it changed my
original decision: our state should not and will not set up a
state-based health care exchange.”
Please contact your state legislator and Governor Haslam and tell them you do not want Tennessee to set up a
health care exchange.
